      Birthday: May 1, 1967

      Birthplace: Hanover, New Hampshire, USA

Ntare Mwine was an American stage and screen actor who appeared on numerous acclaimed TV shows, most notably "Heroes" (NBC, 2006-09), "Treme" (HBO, 2010-13), and "The Knick" (Showtime, 2014-15). Both in New Hampshire to Ugandan parents, Mwine grew up in a house where higher education was encouraged (both of his parents taught at the university level). Mwine could have very well followed his parents footsteps and became an academic, but he chose acting instead. He eventually found himself in the prestigious graduate acting program at New York University, and by the early 90s was racking up awards for his various roles on stage, most notably John Guare's "Six Degrees of Separation." By the mid-90s he began appearing on TV shows. He nabbed supporting roles on "Law & Order" (NBC, 1990-2010) and "Alias" (ABC, 2001-06), as well as the 1998 drama film "Desert Blue." Mwine continued landing mostly TV roles in the 2000s, including recurring roles on "Heroes" and "The Riches" (FX, 2007-08). In 2006 he appeared alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the Oscar-nominated action drama "Blood Diamond" (2006) and followed that up with a role in the film "40" in 2009. Then in 2010 Mwine joined the cast of the HBO dramatic series "Treme." Set in a creatively bustling neighborhood in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the series allowed Mwine to work with the notable television auteur David Simon, who was best known for his previous HBO show "The Wire" (HBO, 2002-08). After "Treme" ended its run in 2013 Mwine continued picking up TV parts on shows like "Bosch" (Amazon, 2014- ) and "Lethal Weapon" (Fox, 2016- ). In January of 2018 he appeared on the Showtime drama "The Chi" (Showtime, 2018- ). The series was a coming of age drama set on the South Side of Chicago.
