After growing up in Georgia and attending NYU's Gallatin School, Nzingha Stewart hit the ground running. In the late 1990s, she started directing dozens of music videos for major musicians, including Jay-Z, Kanye West, and 50 Cent. After years of acclaim for her work in music videos, Stewart began to transition towards full-length projects. She directed "Michael Jackson: Our Icon" (BET 2009) and then executive produced Tyler Perry's "For Colored Girls" (2010). Those projects helped Stewart exit the music video world and enter the world of film and television. She proceeded to direct several episodes of TV shows, ranging from "The Game" (The CW/BET 2006-2015) to "Pretty Little Liars" (ABC Family/Freeform 2010- ), before writing and directing the TV movie "With This Ring" (Lifetime 2015). "With This Ring" focused on a group of female African-American friends who all set out to be married within a year. The film was a smashing success for Lifetime, becoming one of their most celebrated movies of the year. In between other TV directing gigs, including episodes of "The Catch" (ABC 2016- ) and "UnREAL" (Lifetime 2015- ), Stewart also helmed another Lifetime movie entitled "The 10th Date" (2017).
