Paul Lynch

British-born Canadian director Paul Lynch has worked extensively in both film and television, most notably on the horror feature "Prom Night" and action series like "Top Cops." Born in Liverpool, Lynch has spent much of his career living and working in Canada. His first directing gig came in 1973 with the drama "The Hard Part Begins." His next feature was the action film "Blood & Guts" before he raised his profile considerably with the Jamie Lee Curtis slasher film "Prom Night," which came out in 1980. During the rest of the '80s he alternated between directing episodic TV, like the remake of "The Twilight Zone," and making thrillers and action films such as "Bullies" or the Canadian independent film "Blindside," starring Harvey Keitel. He was one of several directors to be honored with a Canadian Gemini Award nomination for his work on the docudrama "Top Cops," a Canada/United States co-production that ran from 1990 until 1993. He is also known for his work in the '90s on sci-fi shows like "F/X: The Series" and shows in the "Star Trek" franchise. In 1994 he directed several episodes of the ill-fated TV version of the film "RoboCop," which received Gemini nominations, including one for Lynch's directing, and helmed the 2004 thriller "The Keeper" starring Dennis Hopper as a deranged cop.
