Peter Scanavino

Growing up in Colorado, Peter Scanavino wasn't immediately drawn to acting. It wasn't until his first year in college that he started getting into theater, and shortly after, he dropped out of school and moved to New York City. In his early 20s, he bounced around different theater roles before eventually breaking into bigger roles. In 2005, Scanavino appeared as a guest on a number of TV shows, including "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (NBC/USA 2001-2011) and "Law & Order: Trial by Jury" (NBC 2005-06). He made his feature film debut shortly after in "Under Surveillance" (2006), and followed that with an appearance in the Hugh Jackman/Ewan McGregor thriller "Deception" (2008). He made another guest appearance in the Law & Order series in 2009, and later appeared on acclaimed shows including "The Good Wife" (CBS 2009-2016), "The Blacklist" (NBC 2013- ), and "The Leftovers" (HBO 2014- ). Steadily accruing credits in one-off guest roles in a variety of TV shows, Scanavino started to dabble more in the indie film space, appearing in Josh Radnor's "Happythankyoumoreplease" (2010) and the critically acclaimed Noah Baumbach film "Frances Ha" (2014). A year after he appeared on the show in an unrelated guest role, Scanavino joined the main cast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (NBC 1999- ) in 2014 as Detective Dominick Carisi. In 2015, he took his Law & Order character over to "Chicago P.D." (NBC 2014- ) for a crossover episode.
