Ralph Toporoff
Former Paris-based photojournalist who worked as camera operator or cameraman on such features as "The Swimmer" (1968), Arthur Penn's "Alice's Restaurant" (1969) and John Cassavetes' "Husbands" (1970). After directing several TV dramas, Toporoff made his first feature, "American Blue Note" (1991), an autobiographical comedy about the right to fail, focusing on the relationships between members of a jazz quintet in the early 1960s.
