Randy Zisk

Though he has proved most prolific as a television director, Randy Zisk began his career as a producer and writer. In 1986, he penned an episode of the short-lived family series "Fathers and Sons" and served as an associate producer on the cop drama "Heart of the City." Three years later he merged these talents on the radio-centered crime drama "Midnight Caller." He stepped up to the director's chair the following year, helming a "Midnight Caller" episode titled "Planes." It proved to be a pivotal moment, for while he's returned to producing and writing over the years, Zisk is most often regarded as a director, having helmed more than 45 different television programs. In this long list of credits, he is best known for his work on the fantasy adventure series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" and his efforts on the offbeat detective drama "Monk." Notably, he served as director and producer on both. He began directing episodes of "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" back in 1993, and took on the job of supervising producer the following year, eventually working his way up to co-executive producer before the series wrapped in 1997. He has been with "Monk" since its first season in 2002, serving as frequent director and executive producer. In 2009, he even helped launch the spinoff web series "Little Monk," a family-friendly string of shorts that center on the quirky sleuth's childhood exploits.
