Ryan-James Hatanaka

With an impressive resume full of intense theater training and experience, Ryan-James Hatanaka approached on-screen acting only after establishing himself as a stage actor. A native of Canada, Hatanaka's father, Bill Hatanaka, was a former CFL wide receiver for the Ottawa Rough Riders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats who later went on to a successful career in corporate business. Ryan-James, meanwhile, took an interest in acting from an early age-and took his interest very seriously. After studying drama at the University of Toronto's St. Michael's College, Hatanaka completed postgraduate studies at the National Theatre School of Canada before enrolling at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. There, he earned an MFA in acting in 2014, appearing in acclaimed student productions like "The Seagull" and "Meantime Home." Hatanaka would appear in professional plays as well, like 2014's Shakespeare in the Park production of "King Lear" with Annette Bening and John Lithgow. At the same time, Hatakana began to pursue work on camera, appearing as the official face of a campaign for HBO Nordic, in addition to making guest acting appearances on shows like "Eye Candy" (MTV, 2015). In 2016, Hatanaka took on the role of Daren Okada on the series "Chicago P.D." (NBC, 2014-).
