Welsh actor Trystan Gravelle graduated from stage work in London to supporting roles in a number of high-profile television series, including "Mr. Selfridge" (ITV/PBS, 2013-2016), "The Aliens" (E4, 2016) and "The Terror" (AMC, 2018). Born in the Welsh village of Trimsaran in 1981, he was a member of the National Youth Theatre of Wales and Llanelli Youth Theatre from 1997 to 1999 before enrolling at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Almost immediately after graduation, Gravelle joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, performing classical dramas at the Globe Theatre while also appearing in more modern fare with the National Theatre and other groups. He made his television debut on the supernatural drama "Chosen" (RTE, 2004- ) before enjoying widespread exposure as 17th century dramatist Christopher Marlowe in director Roland Emmerich's "Anonymous" (2011), about the playwright Edward de Vere, who was alleged to be the actual author of Shakespeare's plays. The following year, Gravelle earned his breakout role as Victor Colleano, an ambitious waiter at the Selfridge and Co. department story on ITV's historical drama "Mr. Selfridge." Gravelle's turn as the flirtatious Colleano earned him notice as a "Star of Tomorrow" by Screen International, but more importantly, exposure to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, and he parlayed it into more substantive roles on television: he was an alien visitor whose façade as a proud family obscured his malevolent nature on the comedy-drama "The Aliens," and played the youthful version of Robbie Coltrane's television comedian, who faces sexual abuse charges, on "National Treasure" (Channel 4, 2016). In 2018, he was cast as a 19th century sailor facing an unknown assailant in the Arctic in the Ridley Scott-produced series "The Terror."
