Vinay Virmani
Actor, writer, and producer Vinay Virmani was born in Toronto, Ontario, on January 24, 1985. His father was Indian film producer and Indo-Canadian businessman Ajay Virmani, President and CEO of Cargojet, the largest cargo airline in Canada. Raised in Toronto, Vinay earned a Bachelors Degree in Business from York University in Toronto before attending the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York. In 2011 he co-wrote and starred in the underdog hockey film "Breakaway," about an all-Sikh team in Toronto. The film was produced by his father and translated into Panjabi to play in theaters in India. Next for Virmani was the Hindi film "David" (2013). The film tells three different stories of three different Davids in three different eras (Virmani plays the David in 1999, a free spirit with strict Christian parents). In 2014, Indian superstar actor Salman Khan produced "Dr. Cabbie," starring Virmani, who again scripted. The idea came to him after a cab ride conversation with a driver who was a doctor in India, but was unable to practice when he moved to Toronto. The film also stars American TV star Kunal Nayyar, best known for his work on "The Big Bang Theory" (CBS, 2007 - ) and Adrianne Palicki.
