Wells Root

Wells Root brought many screenplays to Hollywood throughout the course of his Hollywood career. Root built a career in film writing for himself after such credits on "Politics" (1931), "Bird of Paradise" (1932) and "Tiger Shark" (1932). He also appeared in "I Cover the Waterfront" (1933) and "Black Moon" (1934). In the thirties, Root devoted his time to various credits, such as "Shadow of Doubt" (1935), "The Bold Caballero" (1936) and "The Prisoner of Zenda" (1937) starring Ronald Colman. He also worked on "Man of Conquest" (1939). Root had a number of different projects under his belt in the forties through the sixties, including "Salute to the Marines" (1943) starring Wallace Beery, "Magnificent Obsession" (1954) and "Hell Ship Mutiny" with Jon Hall (1957). His credits also expanded to "Secret of Deep Harbor" (1961). Root more recently wrote "Texas Across the River" (1966) with Dean Martin. Root passed away in March 1993 at the age of 93.
