William Warfield was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Warfield marked his early career with roles in the Kathryn Grayson adaptation "Show Boat" (1951), "Music From America: Rhapsody in Blue" (PBS, 1975-76) and "Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Show" (CBS, 1987-88). He then acted in "Martin Luther King Jr: A Tribute By William Warfield" (1987-88), "The Musical Legacy of Roland Hayes" (PBS, 1989-1990) and the Jose Ferrer dramatic adaptation "Old Explorers" (1990). More recently, Warfield appeared on "Porgy and Bess: An American Voice" (PBS, 1997-98).
