John Monaghan Detroit Free Press Small Voices works, even though its lesson has been pounded into you a hundred times before. Rated: 3/4 Mar 5, 2004 Full Review Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter Despite its inherent predictability, the film nonetheless succeeds in its modest aims, thanks in large part to the director's fresh approach to his timeworn themes and to de Rossi's engaging performance as the committed teacher. Dec 25, 2003 Full Review Matt Weitz Dallas Morning News Small Voices is a trip to another culture that is enjoyable, even inspiring, in spite of its faults. Rated: C+ Oct 30, 2003 Full Review Mark Halverson Sacramento News & Review Rated: 3/5 Aug 7, 2008 Full Review Walter Chaw Film Freak Central It wants to have its cake and eat it, too, wishing to be inspirational and satirical in the same breath but managing mostly to be derivative and mawkish. Rated: 0.5/4 Mar 16, 2005 Full Review Joe Baltake Sacramento Bee Like the white shirts worn by its students, this film is crisp. It's also more than a little humbling. Audience Member This film is so heart-felting to the highest level... Great cast plus great acting plus great story equals to great extraordinary film... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member a Gil Portes film; aka 'Mga Munting Tinig' Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member As a class requirement, I was forced to watch this Tagalog film originally entitled "Munting Tinig." It focused on the usual scenario of Philippine public schools wherein a woman stood out to make a change. Although this kind of storyline was considered "clicheic," the film still garnered praise because of the message it conveyed. Since this was the very first movie I've ever watched in theaters, I gave it five stars! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member it was a very good movie.. it inspired me to be a teacher Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
