Audience Member It suffers from old-movie syndrome. Conspicuous devices. Weak acting. But it's a respectable story for its time. The main character has some amusing traits. There is a strong abolitionist theme. 5.1 out of 10 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Major discrepancies between the classic book and this movie threaten to downgrade the project, but several of the changes work better to illustrate on film the societal expectations and social needs of the 1800s United States. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member A clean and watered down version of the Mark Train story. Well made and acted for the era. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member I love Mickey Rooney! And he doesn't fail to entertain once again. In Hollywood during this time if you had asked any actor who was the best actor in Hollywood they would answer, "Mickey Rooney!" The movie is mostly a comedy, although there are some touching dramatic scenes. Its good to see William Farley before he was "Fred" on "I Love Lucy". Funny and entertaining with a good message. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review simon d Nice film with a very good message for kids. I didn't know Mickey Rooney was a child star, a pretty good one at that. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review dave j Monday, October 7, 2013 (1939) The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn ADVENTURE Adapted from the best selling novel written by Mark Twain which without his recollection and his stories, people in general would continue to be ignorant. The story centers on Huck Finn's adventures, while making attempts to escape even though he has good intentions including helping his friend Jim to escape. Stars Mickey Rooney as Huck and Rex Ingram as the African American slave Jim. 3 out of 4 stars Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
