Kashgar A This is one of the rare times the critics got it right and the audience wrong. Excellent movie with a gut wrenching ending. Tightly scripted, beautifully shot. The ending was
well, just watch it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/14/24 Full Review Emilliano Jr S Good western horror & period piece. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/03/23 Full Review CJ S Ya know, for a B-horror film, it's not that bad. I was pleasantly surprised. Go in with low expectations, still. The social commentary is not as deep as I suspect the filmmakers thought it was. But, it's far from unwatchable and quite creepy in parts. A fun lil creature western. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/23/23 Full Review Aidan B The movie starts off with promise, however, "The Burrowers" just ends up being a below-average horror film with cheap looking effects, one-dimensional characters, and an extremely chaotic pace that make the film just boring and pretty forgettable. As many people have stated, the cinematography is really good, and the acting from a handful of the actors is plausible. However, overall, the film had a lot of potential but couldn't quite mix the genres all that well, resulting in a lousy mess of a film. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/23/23 Full Review Kyle M The cinematography's the only productive motivation to capture anything slightly horrific in connection to a failed promise while duplicated by inspiration from past acclaimed westerns as substantial excuses, particularly since the story turned out blandly repetitive by non-commitment, purposeless out of lost narrative maintenance capped by unsatisfying incompletion, and insignificantly unmemorable, disposable characters disregarding the flow. John Anderson Variety The pacing is too pokey by half, and the payoff is a wrenching disappointment. Oct 2, 2008 Full Review Ard Vijn ScreenAnarchy "The Burrowers" is a very good movie, maybe the best I've seen in quite a while. Jan 15, 2020 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand ... a real western/horror/monster movie with a devoted frontier sensibility and loving nods to The Searchers. Apr 21, 2017 Full Review Simon Foster Screen-Space Director J.T Petty's nasty romp followed up Alex Turner's Dead Birds (2004) and preceeded John Geddes Exit Humanity (2011) in the Old West/monster movie mash-up genre; it may well be the best of them. Jul 28, 2012 Full Review Lucius Gore ESplatter ... proves once again that the old west still isn't the ideal place to set a monster movie.
