The pacing is too pokey by half, and the payoff is a wrenching disappointment. Go to Full Review

An otherwise underwhelming experience is elevated entirely by the Western setting. Go to Full Review

"The Burrowers" is a very good movie, maybe the best I've seen in quite a while. Go to Full Review

... a real western/horror/monster movie with a devoted frontier sensibility and loving nods to The Searchers. Go to Full Review

Director J.T Petty's nasty romp followed up Alex Turner's Dead Birds (2004) and preceeded John Geddes Exit Humanity (2011) in the Old West/monster movie mash-up genre; it may well be the best of them. Go to Full Review

Robert J Aug 30 Good movie way better than 35% well acted cool creatures. Just not happy ending. Still new idea at least 75 % See more Logan D Apr 11 After his intended fiance goes missing, a cowboy gathers a group of men to hunt down the indians they suspect kidnapped her. This is a concept I love. Monsters and cowboys. With a nod to The Searchers, Petty crafts an unevenly paced but enjoyable creature feature. Athough many scenes are cheapened by obvious costumes, some are brilliant. I loved the closeups of the creatures faces and the design of their rear legs. Tossing in they are the consequence of the white man's actions is apropos but not overbearing. Also funny they have one scene that includes a Wilhelm Scream. See more Kristy S Mar 19 It was an ok movie but the ending was terrible! If they made a sequel it might have not disappointed me as much, but the ending was just so open ended and didn’t solve anything. See more Kashgar A 03/14/2024 This is one of the rare times the critics got it right and the audience wrong. Excellent movie with a gut wrenching ending. Tightly scripted, beautifully shot. The ending was…well, just watch it. See more Emilliano Jr S 09/03/2023 Good western horror & period piece. See more CJ S 08/23/2023 Ya know, for a B-horror film, it's not that bad. I was pleasantly surprised. Go in with low expectations, still. The social commentary is not as deep as I suspect the filmmakers thought it was. But, it's far from unwatchable and quite creepy in parts. A fun lil creature western. See more Read all reviews
