Audience Member Brilliant performance by Priyanka 😘💙 she's the reason to watch this movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review yash b "Fashion" is a scathing and critical commentary of the not so glamorous side of the modeling world. I like this movie mostly because it is so different from most Bollywood movies. It tells a realistic story that centers around two interesting and complex female characters portrayed very well by Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut. I think the movie's main issue is that it tries to cover so many topics, that it never really focuses on what it wants you to walk away with.  Nonetheless, it is a well-made movie that it thought-provoking with heavy and emotionally resonant storylines. It's a solid movie to check out if you want to watch something that isn't conventional Bollywood. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Enjoyed watching this Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Fashion is truly fabulous and inspiring. I love the way this film sheds light on both the glamour as well as the hardships of the modeling industry. Meghna's character is bold, brave, and incredibly resilient - even after temporarily losing herself in the midst of the catty fashion industry, she manages to bounce back and fulfill her dreams while remaining true to her character. In fact, Meghna's situation reminds me of a similar character, Viyaj, in the film, Deewaar. In Deewaar, Vijay partakes in illegal smuggling activities and essentially evolves to be a full-blown criminal, but still benefits from the industry's wealthy and glamorous lifestyle. Just as Meghna may not have foresaw her eventual out-of-control spiral, so do Vijay likely thought he would simply take one illegal mission and stop there. Both characters then suffered the consequences of the overbearing effects of their industries. Writer, Rosie Thomas, touches upon this dichotomy of glitz and glamour with underlying tension and difficulties in the chapter of her book, "Melodrama and the Negotiation of Morality." She describes the luxurious lifestyle of villainy as one where smugglers "lounge beside luxury hotel swimming pools, whiskey glasses in hand," but that it is truly a "world of paranoia, loneliness, deception, hard-boiled cynicism" (173). Though Meghna was not a criminal of any sort, her career as a model was similar in that she lost herself to the temptations that came along with the industry - drugs, partying-and becoming a cruel and aggressive person. All in all, I really enjoyed the film! Not only did it highlight important aspects of the industry, but it was a fun and engaging plot as well. The acting, however, could have been improved a bit. Though the film is meant to be dramatic, the actors (Shonali, for example) exaggerated too much, making the film seem a bit tacky and unrealistic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A 'Devil Wears Prada' type film transferred to the catwalk. It's well made, although the plot is generic and predictable. On this basis there's no reason why it needs to be as long as it is. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautifully done. Unlike other Bollywood movies, this was exceptionally tight. as usual great musical numbers were great. The movie brings forth that the addiction to fame and fortune is not the absolute way to happiness and self content. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
