"Lake Mungo" is a fascinating little indie horror movie. This movie succeeds in presenting a unique mystery and creepy vibes. The revelations of the mystery are sometimes really unsettling and other times not as impressive. The movie's commitment to a found footage style makes it feel real, which made me uneasy more than once. I do think the low-quality images make it less scary sometimes, and I am not sure if it was due to budget or a creative choice. Overall, it is a decent horror flick for fans of found footage horror, and while it doesn't rank among the best for me, it is a fun movie to watch and be creeped out by.

Unsettlingly chilling and gripping, a ghost story that routinely treads in grieving alignment that unfolds with ideological heft, all while manifesting a better form of subtle horror in peaked convincing form that feels creatively natural close to realistic lenses, and that effect towards the paranormal prospects might keep you up at night. (B+)
