Retired sea captains Zeb (David Carradine), Jerry (Rip Torn) and Perez (Bruce Dern) live together in 1905 Cape Cod. Deciding that they need a woman's touch around the place but don't want to pay for a maid, the men decide to place an ad for a mail-order bride. Jerry, the loser of a coin toss, is the one designated to marry whomever answers the ad, but all plans go by the wayside when the very appealing Martha Snow (Mariel Hemingway) is the one who steps off the train and into the men's lives.

It seems particularly perverse to take actors who helped develop the '60's thesping style of hang-loose, semi-improvisational immediacy and stick them in a creaky period piece glazed with arch gentility and ersatz quaintness. Go to Full Review

Taking place in 1905, this harmless serving of maritime malarkey may also boast the most liver spots on screen since Cocoon. Go to Full Review

See more 12/05/2012 Starts off promising actually then goes straight to shit See more 05/14/2012 lol....im so glad im not a dude!!!......my grandma love dis flickk....lol See more 03/02/2011 From one end of the spectrum to the other. Yesterday I am watching more a less a movie about a child and today its old men. The previews are far better then the movie itself but its still a cute movie, about 3 old shipmates living together and they decided one needs to marry in order for there home to be kept up. Lots of twist and turns. Easy to see that 3 old friends in the movie business enjoyed making this film. An enjoyable film but still only 3 Stars. See more 09/18/2010 a movie for old men about old men starring old men. Most anything with Carradine, Dern, and Torn i will give a chance. THE GOLDEN BOYS is lite-weight entertainment that actually has a few good chuckles here and there. Think a low rent - direct to video version of GRUMPY OLD MEN. Worth the watch and over before you know it. See more Read all reviews
