Roger Moore Orlando Sentinel It's a picture with the ambitions of a Billy Elliot but the execution of an August Rush. Rated: 2/5 Sep 23, 2009 Full Review Cary Darling Dallas Morning News Broken Hill, with its picture-postcard shots of the vast Outback, looks good and fills a niche for families. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 11, 2009 Full Review Justin Strout Orlando Weekly Pleasant in a flavored-rice-cakes kind of way. Rated: 2/4 Oct 30, 2009 Full Review Brian Orndorf BrianOrndorf.com The predictability is draining, hurting the lasting impact of this strange tale of unlikely musicianship. However, there's a curious spirit to the feature that makes it something to enjoy. Rated: B- Sep 17, 2009 Full Review Jeff Vice Deseret News (Salt Lake City) For all its flaws and despite the limiting premise, this music-themed drama works better than it should. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 10, 2009 Full Review Frank Swietek One Guy's Opinion A hopelessly cliche-ridden tale that wouldn't be out of place on a family-oriented cable channel but is several sizes too small for the big screen. Audience Member The movie itself wasn't bad, the quirkiness kept it mildly entertaining I enjoyed the music element. But the part that ruined it for me was Timothy Huttons atrocious attempt at an Australian accent. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Wouldn't impose it on the bed-ridden Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member That ending is sensational. Makes my eyes leak every time Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member The story line is passable. The real let down is the shit Australian accent put on by Timothy Hutton (George McAlpine). Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member It never works when North American actors try to do Aussie accents. I would have rated the movie better because it was enjoyable, safely predictable and great images. Hutton's accent was quite peculiar. The family was supposed to have been living in rural Aus for generations yet he sounded like a Welsh Texan. Why do film makers spoil their movies this way? He lost all credibility in the role. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Exceptional movie with good acting and the music is exceptional. Loved it not your hollywood type movie but more like an indy with a good script and good ending. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
