Dave Kehr Chicago Reader a flat, stagy, artificially cheerful affair that falls far short of the memorably creepy Laurel and Hardy version of 1934. Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Renee Schonfeld Common Sense Media Live-action Mother Goose musical with mild slapstick action. Rated: 3/5 Dec 2, 2014 Full Review James Plath Movie Metropolis An audience of preschoolers and kindergarteners should still appreciate this colorful Disney film, and curious parents might enjoy seeing certain actors at work. Rated: 6/10 Dec 28, 2012 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com Perhaps 105 minutes of this sugary concoction borders on punishment, but when the movie hits a creative groove the results are highly amusing, generating a heightened sense of theatrical entertainment with a definite Disney twist. Rated: B- Dec 14, 2012 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Disney's first live-action musical is the second, inferior version of Victor Herbert's operetta; the first, in 1934, stars Laurel and Hardy. Noah G We are going to need an animated Disney Remake of the 1961 original as Toyland comes December 2025! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review Teddy B Impressive visuals absolutely do not compliment this stale excuse for a 'plot'. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/17/24 Full Review Russell H Colorful and fun but it looks like the set if a play. Reminds me of the wizard of Oz. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/21/23 Full Review Liam D This is one of the weirdest Classic Live action Disney movies ever but it's very creative with some catchy songs Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/22 Full Review Audience Member A film adaptation of Victor Herbert's 1903 operetta. The cast is good (Ed Wynn is the Toymaker, so extra points awarded just for that). Annette does a good job as the lead female, Tommy Sands is passable as the lead male and Ray Bolger plays a good melodramatic villain. I did enjoy a few of the songs, but this operetta is dated and this portrayal screams 1950's way too much. If operettas or musicals are your thing then check it out. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was great but, not the best. They tried to make the movie better. I like it honestly Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
