Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member dullest one seen in months Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Writer and director Bent Hamer has concocted a sweet and thought-provoking meditation on the measure of one's life using the "weights and measures" community as a backdrop. It may help you rethink how you measure your own self-worth. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Focusing on the Norwegian Metrology Service (Justervesenet) this film adds something very new to the table. Ane Dahl Torp is travelling to France to show the Norwegian kilo to the rest of Europe and scale it with the other kilos from other countries. Is it the right weight? Well, neat story there and it looks very good. It's prettier than most Hamer films and it's his stronges effort to date on the visual parts. Also one of few Norwegian flicks with a solid part done in the French language. As always with Hamer it's something original and something else, but I want more weirdness. I never really care for the lead but I go along with the film. By no means a poor film and probably one of the top five Scandinavian films of the year for me. 7 out of 10 Norwegian Metrology Service CGPM's. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Filme representante na Noruega no Oscar. Mediano. Direção simples, roteiro simples. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member O vazio existencial de uma sociedade avançada traduzido num vazio cinematográfico. Emily Buder indieWire A quirky meditation on the weight of the soul. Depicts a reality bathed in such absurdity that it feels like fantasy.... The film is caught between moments of great storytelling and a distended metaphor. Rated: 7/10 Jan 28, 2016 Full Review Peter Howell Toronto Star Gorgeous cinematography balances impeccable acting and directing for a romantic trifle that delights with design more than content. Rated: 3/4 Jul 16, 2015 Full Review A.O. Scott New York Times "1001 Grams" achieves a charming equipoise of levity and gravity, of formal rigor and soulful sentiment. May 7, 2015 Full Review Charles Mudede The Stranger (Seattle, WA) The pleasures of the film are entirely visual. Aug 23, 2018 Full Review Josh Larsen LarsenOnFilm ...takes its central metaphor very seriously.
