Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Presents its hero as a horse - nothing more - and the adventures befall her precisely because she doesn't have any conscious choice about how humans use her. This is faithful to the moral indignation of Anna Sewell... Audience Member wow this movie was great, I thought it was good movie, I need it on DVD, I thought it was a great movie, it starred Mark Lester (Oliver), Patrick Mower (Rodney in Emmerdale) and Uschi Glas, it was a great movie Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review bill t Rather dark and grim telling of the novel (I've never read it, so I have no idea if this is true to the book) which features, yes, a horse, as it travels from owner to owner, it's life getting grimmer as time goes by. The ending is predictable but certainly not a weeper. Honestly, I'd think twice about showing this to kids as it shows sex, violence and bad language in a way that you wonder who this was made for. Rather odd. Splendidly acted though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Amazing movie if you really like animals i guess. kinda a weird animal bonding thing going on in this one Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Anna Sewell's novel was a great nap-time downer...as an adult the story of this horse has made it's way into my heart. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A girl's horse drawn movie...that's all. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member It's hard to look at Mark Lester and not think Oliver Twist. Here he is only a bit part in a steady and watchable version of this Victorian story which has some credible performances, but there is nothing special about it.
