Audience Member Solid, well acted conspiracy film with an above average cast. Considering DuPont's actions in Parkersburg, WV, and Pacific Gas & Electric's in Hinkley, anyone who says "this couldn't happen" probably said the same thing about "Dark Waters" and "Erin Brockovich". In fact, it happens far too often. Definitely worth a watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Tilly and Matheson are great in it, but it's way too slow for an epidemic movie like this. A few interesting character things going on, but they're kind of glossed over and wasted. It's a decent movie, but nothing to rush out for. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/20/18 Full Review Audience Member Another environmental alarmist film has toxic spill contaminating the local milk supply, causing inhabitants of a small town to act strictly on impulse. Decent premise but little buildup into the eventual revelation on the cause of the strange behaviour feels anticlimactic. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member One of those odd sci-fi films you watch late at night. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review dave j Tuesday, March 6, 2012 (1984) Impulse THRILLER A small earthquake happens distilling a small little town called Sutcliffe creating a stir, then the next scene has a mother calling her daughter Jennifer (Meg Tilly)while living on a big city, talks a bunch of nonsense before she shooting herself. After learnin that her mother surivived and is in critical care, Jennifer and her boyfriend Stuart (Tim Matheson)then come back to the town for a visit to see how the mother is holding up. But as the film is progressing, more and more people start to act erractic as well with suicidal tendencies! The real problem is that it states the story instead of making something from it such as how come it took them this long to discover something has been tainted? or why it had to take a couple of newcomers to find out otu what the problem is? It has good intentions but doesn't go nowhere for viewers are able to know what the problem is way before the characters do themselves making the overall experience into a predictable one and rather pointless which might've worked as a 45 minute stint than it would be as a feature film! 2 out of 4 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member One of those odd sci-fi films you watch late at night. Kevin Carr Fat Guys at the Movies It's such a great idea and great concept. It's worth watching this movie as a 'what can be done today?' if they remade it. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 22, 2022 Full Review Michael Barrett PopMatters Impulse is a movie about its own disorienting mood and the loss of control. You can go home again, all right, but it's a pain. The sunny bucolic setting of this nightmare makes it all the more discomforting. Matheson and Tilly deliver fine work in a fairly lost cause.
