C.H. Newell Father Son Holy Gore Intruder's effective due to the fact it's one of the slasher sub-genre's best offerings from the 1980s and leans towards a gory capitalist critique. Melissa L Maybe all of the low ratings are from people born after the '80s. I was a young adult in the late '80s, and, as a horror fan since I was a kid, I've seen a lot of '80s horror films when they were new. I don't remember seeing this one. I think this was a great low-budget horror film...and Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi were also in this. Recommended! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/06/24 Full Review Peter P The movie has enough blood and gore and same nice killings. The music gives a menacing atmosphere. The main problem is the slow pace, the first half there is hardly anything happening and as it's all in the same location, it's rather boring. The heroine is ok, pretty and quite down to earth, but the other characters are not very interesting. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/24/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie felt too simple to me. It was not an interesting watch, the story was not compelling. But the movie is very well done. The gore is brutal and fantastic, the pacing is great, the acting is very good for an 80s slasher. It's action packed and keeps your interest, although I wish it had ended more conclusively. We don't know what will happen at all, it stopped a few minutes early and without enough context to really guess. Watch it, but it's not a masterpiece, just a decent slasher movie, brilliantly made my sam raimi. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review tara b Oh man, this is fun. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review adam n A hidden gem and must-see for any 80s slasher horror fans. The camera work is fresh and quirky. The slasher tropes are fulfilled in such a fun and fresh way that it pumps energy into the genre. It has a local community and nostalgic feeling to it which adds to its charm. I have a lot of respect for the director and DOP to play with the cinematography in such a creative and inventive style. Perfect balance of cheesiness and thrills. Loved it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Extremely gory, shot on a shoestring, DIY-horror flick (shot on "short ends" of film stock) that's impressive in some areas: shot on location at an actual grocery, makes said grocery store seem like natural death trap, has some genuinely impressive camerawork, and some of the deaths are fantastically graphic. Sam Raimi and Ted Raimi have supporting roles; Bruce Campbell has a cameo. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
