The slapstick is often too much, and Deneuve isn't really suited for this type of comedy, though she certainly looks stunning and gives a capable performance. Montand fares better, and the chemistry between the two stars gives the film some playfulness. Most surprising is Tony Roberts in a supporting role as a nightclub owner whose painting-- was it a Renoir or a Toulouse-Lautrec (?) (I think it was the latter...)-- is stolen by Deneuve.
