Three cowboy movie stars from the silent era -- Dusty Bottoms (Chevy Chase), Lucky Day (Steve Martin) and Ned Nederlander (Martin Short) -- are fired when one of their movies bombs. In what seems to be a career-saving offer, young Mexican woman Carmen (Patrice Martinez) offers them a high-paying gig in her village. The three jump at the opportunity, expecting to do their typical act, but Carmen believes they are really heroes and asks them to rid her village of bad guy El Guapo (Alfonso Arau).

Critics Consensus

Three Amigos! stars a trio of gifted comedians and has an agreeably silly sense of humor, but they're often adrift in a dawdling story with too few laugh-out-loud moments.

David Stratton Sydney Morning Herald If Three Amigos is disappointing, it's because the people involved have ail done better work in the past. But it's not all bad. May 27, 2021 Full Review Dave Kehr Chicago Tribune It's the laziness of the project that's finally most galling. Rated: 1/4 Apr 25, 2014 Full Review Patrick Goldstein Los Angeles Times [Three Amigos is] a goofy delight. It's like a cross between a big-budget Three Stooges movie and a Hope-Crosby road picture, with dozens of old cowpoke gags thrown in to spice up the brew. thiago s Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, o filme tem cenas de comédia fracas, mesmo com o trio que é bacana, o filme não foi bom e nem engraçado, a história é fraca, e faltou muitas cenas para o filme ser bom. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/25 Full Review Brad S. R It has many truly great moments, but the whole film, alas, never amounts to the sum of its parts. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/19/25 Full Review Melissa M One of the best comedy classics of all time. Written by some of the funniest comedians of all time. Randy newman, Steve martin, Lorne Michaels. Directed by one of the best directors of all time John Landis. Steve martin, Chevy chase, & Martin short sing the songs in the movie. They have awesome Harmony. Even though Joe Mantegna, Phil Hartman & Jon Lovitz are on the screen for what seems like less than 3 seconds. It's 3 of the funniest seconds in comedic film. Kai Wulff is also in the film probably one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood. Plays The part of the German Wunderbar. Chevy Chase as Dusty bottoms is probably one of the funniest performances in his career. Some of the funniest moments in the film is when the 3 amigos sing the song my little buttercup at the cantina. when the amigos meet El guapo for the first time. Also The part when 3 amigos are by the campfire. They're playing blue shadows on the trail everybody's singing including the animals. And when The amigos are trying to summon the invisible swordsman. This film definitely has a plethora of lol moments. It's a good family friendly film. Fun for the whole family. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/13/25 Full Review Noah G If you hate three amigos then you suck! They are as funny as howieazy a instant classic this movie is Jerry trainor is great actor and he loves this movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/04/25 Full Review Brian J I love Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short. I don't understand the appeal of this movie. It was almost painful to watch. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/28/24 Full Review Tom L Comedy is always subjective but, for me, it may not be the funniest ever but it certainly has a lot of heart. And, also, it's funny! A great parody of The Magnificent Seven with some truly silly humour. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/23/24 Full Review Read all reviews
