Isaiah Y Sep 29 Not quite as effective as the book See more Will G @Kingofthepixies Sep 25 Very true to Stevensons novel, and a excellent adaptation. Extremely enjoyable. See more Anjum K 12/01/2024 It is a wonderful movie, it's akin to John Ford's great works in terms of rich language & austere realism. See more Nick S 07/26/2024 Absolute classic, I loved it and it engaged me away from what I was doing quite a few times. See more David C 04/14/2024 Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum..... sit back and enjoy the only Long John Silver who defined pirates... Robert Newton See more Dale R 08/28/2023 Disney's first fully live action movie is a fairly accurate retelling of the Robert Louis Stevenson novel. Robert Newton does a great job as Long John Silver and also establishes the pirate talk that we are so used to in all forms of media. Bobby Driscoll also does a good job as Jim Hawkins and the dynamic between the two is believable, which is a key to the telling of this tale. There is some Hollywooding up of the characters for modern audiences, especially Hawkins who is portrayed as a modern kid. I think that was done intentionally to allow kids of the time to put themselves in that role. Because of this I think it would be harder for kids today to do the same. See more Read all reviews
