As violent as it is stylish, The Warriors is a thrilling piece of pulp filmmaking.

Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times No matter what impression the ads give, this isn't even remotely intended as an action film. It's a set piece. It's a ballet of stylized male violence. Rated: 2/4 Mar 7, 2021 Full Review Dave Kehr Chicago Reader The Warriors admits to failures of conception (occasional) and dialogue (frequent), but there is much of value in Hill's visual elaboration of the material. Mar 7, 2021 Full Review Pauline Kael New Yorker There's a night-blooming, psychedelic shine to the whole baroque movie. Jan 3, 2018 Full Review Bianca Garner Filmotomy Hill understood what teenagers liked, and as a result, he made a film that they could identify with. Oct 3, 2024 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed The cast here is one of the main reasons why the film is such a classic. James Remar here is fantastic and really makes his presence known and his talent shine. Rated: 4/5 Dec 14, 2023 Full Review Mitchell Beaupre Paste Magazine While the race-against-the-clock narrative propulsion is positively gripping, the smaller elements laced throughout The Warriors leave the most lasting impression. Jay A Tough to judge this movie. If these are gang members, then I'm a UFC fighter. One guy was cut by a knife and acted like he's never seen a fight before. Cool idea for a story though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Audience Member First saw this as a kid when it was the movie for some telethon back in the very early 1980s, and still watching it now 40+ years later. As a then 10 year old boy, I remember wanting to be one of The Warriors so much, and tried to talk like them . . . The film showed a glimpse of the gritty, hardnosed city life of NYC teenagers in a dirty time period where you could almost smell the stench of last night's garbage still on the curb. It had all the elements to capitvate my viewing -- charismstic and over-the-top performances with memorable character lines, and some great action sequences matched with a very fitting soundtrack. And even some mystery, i.e., who was that radio DJ lady whose face you never fully saw (played by Lynne Thigpen)? You watched because you wanted to know if the boys were going to overcome the odds and make it back to the "C.I." Riffs leader: "You Warriors are good . . . real good". Swan: "The best". Cannot wait to see if the speculation comes true that this will be a Broadway musical. I can dig it!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/24 Full Review Aldo G Lots of great parts that, unfortunately, do not equal a great sum. Walter Hill can deliver kinetic energy, but often fails with his direction of actors and dialogue. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/10/24 Full Review Jimppa T The movie that set the standard for gang activity in Europe at least in the late 70's-early 80's.  Now, that's the not so glamorous part of it. But as a movie, a story it is one of a kind to ever been made. Well written, well acted, well produced/directed. Make sure to watch this one!  Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Fer S Really cool movie. I liked that it kept the serious vibe throught out the whole movie, without going into comedy or childish scenes. Nothing that blows your mind though. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review Kieran C waaarriorssss..... come out to play-ayyy!! Love this when anyone ask my favourite film This is it .
