Brent A 30% rating ... I got bored of the plot very quickly. I wasn't captivated or intrigued by much of thia film. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/17/24 Full Review Pearlgirl A This movie came out while I was in my teens and I remember watching it with my big bro who was several years older than me. It is definitely one of my favourites!! I have lost count the amount of times I have watched it and now it came on regular TV so I taped it and can watch it anytime now! It was had everything you could want in a movie, and In the City is one of my favourite songs!! My BB has passed away, but this movie brings back. Great memories for me, watching the movie with him, and both of us chanting "warriors come out and play-eee-aayy"!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/17/24 Full Review Mark Fantastic movie, the way the suspense builds throughout the first half of the film is almost perfect. It's a shame the ending feels so rushed and abrupt. Comparing it to the middle section of the film, the climax was such a let down. Still such a brilliantly made film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/10/24 Full Review James B cult classic film with a great 1 hr 30 minute runtime that is fast paced well shot great acting and a great soundtrack highly recommended!!! great view of nyc and just a fantastic film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/07/24 Full Review Anthony J Hard to believe some people saw something of value in this tripe. Cocky gang run, then fight, then swagger through very lame dialogue, then repeat. The plot is silly, the acting wooden, action repetitive and the whole thing seems aimed at none- to- bright wannabe bully-boy adolescents who will think it 'cool' and adopt the swagger for a couple of hours afterwards Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/24 Full Review Blu B All Time Classic. What is comes up short in with in depth characters it makes up for with a visually distinct world brimming with atmosphere and style with a killer soundtrack to boot. This merges being a gritty street adventure with a comic book style amazingly well never feeling out of place. It does a wonderful job also most of the time keeping them together and never dividing them up solo and trying to give bckstory on each. Each gang is also very distinct despite never sticking out individually. To boot, there all acted really well. It does a great job of turning a bunch of gang fights into a thrilling adventure home while never feeling repetitive. The fact you care a lot about them by the end despite not sticking out in their own is amazing and the ending is awesome. Everyone should give this a try once. Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times No matter what impression the ads give, this isn't even remotely intended as an action film. It's a set piece. It's a ballet of stylized male violence. Rated: 2/4 Mar 7, 2021 Full Review Dave Kehr Chicago Reader The Warriors admits to failures of conception (occasional) and dialogue (frequent), but there is much of value in Hill's visual elaboration of the material. Mar 7, 2021 Full Review Pauline Kael New Yorker There's a night-blooming, psychedelic shine to the whole baroque movie. Jan 3, 2018 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed The cast here is one of the main reasons why the film is such a classic. James Remar here is fantastic and really makes his presence known and his talent shine. Rated: 4/5 Dec 14, 2023 Full Review Mitchell Beaupre Paste Magazine While the race-against-the-clock narrative propulsion is positively gripping, the smaller elements laced throughout The Warriors leave the most lasting impression. Rated: 10/10 Sep 29, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand It’s a funky, flashy grindhouse epic that makes the most of its low budget graffiti aesthetic, practically abstract in terms of plot and motivation, but executed with the visceral pulp punch Hill mastered in his tough, terse pictures.
