01/15/2021 This is so, so dated that it's practically unwatchable. Nearly everyone is self-consciously playing a silly caricature. It's all pink icing and no cake. See more Steve S 12/13/2014 ***Due to the recent RT changes that have basically ruined my past reviews, I am mostly only giving a rating rather than a full review.*** See more 06/01/2013 Actually a 1963 movie that sat on the shelf for six years. It should have stayed there. It is worth a watch only for the sake of seeing De Niro in his first feature film appearance, but just fast forward to his scenes because the movie is so bad it is almost torture to sit through. See more 03/30/2010 One of the best commentaries on the horror of getting married. It has the incredibly deranged meet and greets with relatives and the fact that you are basically doing job interviews every time. The use of time is brilliant and original, you can clearly see it has had an impact on De Palma’s later films. The story develops quite well and makes you really get a sense of people, not just characters. For the time period and budget, it’s about the best possible movie you could ask for. See more 02/12/2009 directed by Brian De Palma, Wilford Leach and Cynthia Munroe See more 11/25/2008 It is poor, but you can see the early signs of De Palma's style with many shots repeated in his later films. For example, the camera swapping from one side of a set of trees to the other following the characters, which is used in "Carrie". It also has a hip, student film feel to it which is peculiar to 60s US films. It was fun to see a young De Niro too, looking like a right hard nut. See more Read all reviews
