martin a An enjoyable 80s horror where a writer goes to stay in a deserted Greek village to write her book. Problem is that a crazy handsome man kills his landlord and she sees him bury the body. After that, she has to fight to stay alive. The script needed to be tighter, but the acting is spot on. It is a lost cult classic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The Wind proves itself to be quite underwhelming and average in every sense of the word. I can't say that the film is "bad" but its not good either. The story is essentially absent, the acting is all over the place, there's no real scary parts or gory kills, basically the only way to describe this is MEH. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This a strange flick. Filmed in Greece but I'm pretty sure it's Italian horror. Meg Foster (31) with her entrancing eyes stars as a young writer who goes on a retreat in Greece to work on her new thriller novel. Upon arriving she meets the weird misogynistic owner of the property and than the creepy housekeeper who ends up attacking her. She's quite the resilient final girl thwarting him again and again with clever tactics. The a actual wind plays a big part as an ominous force surrounding the house and ripping through the island. The movie is well shot and the central performance is engaging and impressive. The only real problem is the odd pacing jumping from fast to slow. At times it takes you out of the action breaking up its flow. All in all it's just entertaining enough to merit a light reccomend. 3/5 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member The Wind is the story of mystery writer Sean Anderson who leaves the hustle and bustle of the big city life for a few weeks to focus on her newest novel. She moves into a deserted Greek village right next to the ocean, hoping for peace and quiet. Not only does Foster have to contend with the insane winds that throw their weight through the village all day and night, but also the lone handyman (the great Wings Hauser) who proves to be a bit unstable. After she witnesses him bury a body, it becomes a cat and mouse game as Hauser spends the rest of the movie chasing after her. Aside from these two great B-movie actors (especially in the horror genre realm), we are also graced by a small role from the great Steve Railsback (Blue Monkey, Devil's Rejects, and about a hundred other horror films) as a sailor that attempts to rescue Foster. The Wind is certainly nothing to cry home about. In fact, calling it The Wind didn't seem to help. Sure, it's a character of its own in the film, but not nearly the main focal point that the title suggests. Hauser is fun to watch, no matter how campy or ridiculous he is in his films, and Foster was always mesmerizing to watch in the 80's (They Live, Stepfather II, Relentless, Leviathan, etc). Average, but definitely one of the better films from Greek director Nico Mastorakis, whose films are usually stale. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Not great, but a good way to pass time -- mostly because of Meg Foster's beautiful eyes! Rent it! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I love this film, I have never actually been to Monemvasia, but it looks fantastic. A must watch for anyone that fancies a bit of a scare! Meg Foster is fantastic as Sian Anderson, the script is a little weak though, but still worth a watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
