Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com A classic 90's action experience with guns, girls and budget-busting explosions. Rated: 2.0/4.0 Sep 10, 2020 Full Review Paul Parcellin Film Threat The movie's biggest laughs come from parts that were probably not intended to be comic. Rated: 2/10 Mar 6, 2018 Full Review Christopher Machell CineVue Hired to Kill boasts performances bad enough to make even Arnie wince, forgettable action, and a ludicrous Zoolander-esque premise. Pluto O The mediocre acting, action, music and direction makes this feel like a TV pilot. I would love to see a modern remake of it. In the right hands, it would be more than okay. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Haha What a ridiculous blast! The premise is schlock gold. Man, some of the lines are enough to make Arnie jealous. Why can't action movies be this fun anymore...? Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member From the opening scene where Frank Ryan shoots his bedside telephone to stop it ringing you always knew that this was going to be the greatest film ever made. Oliver Reed is a Latin dictator and was probably ballbagged when signing on and no doubt throughout filming and George Kennedy must have had a few bills to clear. Thompson is the balls and his cover as a fashion guru is comedy gold, especially when he sticks his tongue down Reed's throat. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Straight-to-video actioner in which a bad ass mercenary (Brian Thompson) is hired by a shady CIA type (George Kennedy, slumming) to go to a fictional Mediterranean nation and rescue an imprisoned rebel leader (Jose Ferrer, slumming), in an effort to depose the country's despotic ruler (Oliver Reed, slumming, but giving it his all). The only way to accomplish this, apparently, is for Thompson to go undercover as a gay fashion photographer, supported by a group of female convicts that he has trained to be both high-class models and tough-as-nails commandos. With a premise as preposterous as this, there is no way this movie could miss! Shot against scenic Corfu locations, director Nico Mastorakis keeps things lively with enough tongue in cheek to compensate for the lack of dollars in wallet. Thompson (best known as one of the punks at the beginning of The Terminator) looks like a virile Matt Damon and makes for a fine, strangely compelling action hero. The girls all provide some low-rent T&A. Depending on your tolerance level for this kind of junk, you can reduce my rating by as many as three-and-a-half stars. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Nice late 80's/early 90's action movie: A cross between Charlies Angels, and the A team. Thompson and Reed are great. Strong 'guy' movie Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
