Jimbo This is (for me), the quintessential romantic soap opera flick. It's got everything, Star crossed lovers, an evil mother, a car accident, plastic surgery, mistaken identity, lies, and a terrific musical score featuring an Oscar nominated title track performed by Melissa Manchester. Kathleen Quinlan and Stephen Collins are wonderful in the leading roles, but it is Beatrice Straight, who nearly steals the film. This 1979 film has finally been released on Blu Ray by Universal as of October of 2022. Don't miss it if you like old fashioned, corny romances-this is one of the best! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/14/22 Full Review Audience Member Kathleen Quinlan gives an Oscar-nominated worthy performance. The title song received an Oscar nomination for Best Song. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member There is a lot of honesty and truth in what it wants to say, especially in the way it avoids making Marion a one-dimensional villain; even so, the result is only a passable yet sappy love story with good performances but inevitably weakened by its corny dialogue. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Think of Love story with a happy ending, and you're there. I've seen a hell of a lot worse. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Except for Collins' performance, the acting is terrible. Worse, the story is implausible and ridiculous. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Young couple in love, his mother objects. They suffer a horrendous car accident during which her face is destroyed, his mother pays her off with reconstructive surgery. She emerges looking...remarkably similar? He doesn't notice when they met. Uh right. Gooey nonsense at least has nice San Francisco locations and decent actors working with a silly script.
