Domenico (Sergio Rubini) leads a quiet life and works at a barely used train station. One evening, his humdrum existence is interrupted by Flavia (Margherita Buy), a glamorous woman in a hurry to get out of town. Since the next train isn't due for some time, Domenico and Flavia converse, and in no time the kindly station attendant manages to charm the beautiful woman. They decide to run off together, but Domenico doesn't know that Flavia has a manic lover who will do anything to get her back.
