Lorenz L A late silent-era (1928) masterwork starring Swedish icon and superstar Lars Hanson (who also scored great successes in a handful of American silents along the sides of Greta Garbo and Lillian Gish, among others). He was a god among actors, with an unmatched versatility. And matinée-idol handsome. The original print ran 110 minutes (as per the F.W. Murnau Stftung which restored the film in 2019); German Wikipeda gives the duration as 115 minutes. The restored film with a duration of 114 minutes can be seen on the website of the Deutsche Bundesarchiv. BEWARE an American DVD, sold under the name of "Homecoming" (the original title is "Heimkehr") with a running time of 77 minutes. The film, hacked to collops, has not been restored and is almost unwatchable, and has replaced the original German intertitles with crudely-drawn English approximations, and eliminated theextant full original musical score.
