Fairbanks is the most exuberantly athletic of Robin Hoods, for sheer physicality perhaps outdoing even Errol Flynn's definitive performance. Fairbanks's third swashbuckler… in some ways the ideal Fairbanks vehicle. Go to Full Review

It's by far the best and most joyous Robin Hood movie ever made; beside Fairbanks, even Errol Flynn appears to be standing still. Go to Full Review

The lavish sets show such Allan Dwan enthusiams as waterworks (the moat), secret passages, multi-story architecture (the castle), elevators (the curtain Fairbanks slides). Go to Full Review

acsdoug D @acsdoug Jul 17 The sets and the costumes are spectacular. not just by the standard of silent films, but by the cinematic standards of any era. The action and story are first rate. I just wish there weren't so many exaggerated gestures by the actors, Fairbanks in particular. See more Dustin D 05/02/2023 Douglas Fairbank's Robin Hood, like many other (relatively) recent Robin Hood tales spends too much time on his back story as a Crusader (a relatively recent addition to Robin Hood's legend), and then rushes through his adventures in Sherwood Forest with his Merry Men. The Merry Men are hardly introduced--the names of characters we're expected to already know just appear on the screen. However, the movie does a great job with production design. The castles and castle towns look massive and sturdy, and Sherwood Forest looks like a real place. Despite my gripe about the first half of the movie being dedicated to a back-story, it was still fun stuff. See more georgan g 05/14/2022 Love this film from several perspectives. Smiling at what we now see as over acting. Frowning at how long the patriarchy has been embedded. Amazed at the physicality of Douglas Fairbanks Sr. Always fun to see what my grandparents could have watched (I'm 74)! See more 02/02/2019 The best thrilling and inspiring movie ever made!
