Gen. Bison (Raul Julia), the evil dictator of Shadaloo, captures a busload of relief workers and holds them for ransom. Col. Guile (Jean-Claude Van Damme) leads an international strike force to invade Shadaloo and rescue the hostages. Along the way, Guile recruits Chun-Li (Ming-Na Wen), a reporter and martial-arts expert whose father was killed by Bison years ago, two young con men (Damian Chapa, Byron Mann) and a sumo wrestler (Peter Navy Tuiasosopo).

As for Jean-Claude, it's a tough stretch for him to play a figurine from an arcade game but, why, he almost manages to be convincing.

While de Souza's arrested development makes him a likely suspect to adapt a video game for movies, the result (like The Super Mario Brothers movie before it) is an empty exercise in hyper-stimulation. Or, to put it bluntly, a complete waste of time.

De Souza's wit, which gave his earlier action scripts a tart edge, has failed him here. He pitches this entire movie at the sub-literate set that, with glassy eyes, unthinkingly pumps quarter after quarter into video games.

The flimsy sets and props, the aimless fighting (the finale is a nonsensically protracted collection of nemesis throw-downs, concluding, unbelievably, with a silly chuckle), and the nonexistent storytelling acumen are just too much to overcome.

Omg this movie is terrible. Even as a little kid i recognized it. The acting, the story, even some of the casting. I dont care what you saw, casting van dam as an American soldier makes nonsense except that he was there for star power. Dude shouldve played johnny cage in mortal kombat, because the characyer was based of his characyer in the movie Bloodsport, but i suppose he may have ruined that film. Heard he was coked out and unprofessional for the shooting of thr movie.

Street Fighter (1994) is a curious case of ambition colliding with chaotic execution. Released the same year as its animated counterpart, the live-action adaptation feels noticeably cheaper in quality despite its larger budget and star-studded cast. The film reimagines iconic characters with altered names and inconsistent backstories, creating unnecessary confusion for fans of the original games. While Jean-Claude Van Damme and Ming-Na Wen bring recognizable faces to the screen, their characters feel diluted compared to their animated versions, and many story decisions reduce once-compelling figures to mere caricatures.

Although it's not a great film with a nonexistent plot, I had a lot of fun watching it. The performances by Van Damme and Raul Julia are quite adequate.

The Movie is not so good at all sadly but the Money was there.A Trash Movie but it is entertaining.Not more not less.The Highlight was Raul Julia as General M.Bison in one of his Last Movie Roles.But that Blanka was absolutely the Worst i have ever seen in my Life.

the plot is non existent and doesn’t adapt the games well, the action is bland and generic, the acting is wooden and hammy but my god it’s so entertaining. Raul Julia is amazing and this is in my opinion one of the greatest so bad it’s good movies ever made
