      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Though it offers mild entertainment through campy one-liners and the overacting of the late Raul Julia, Street Fighter's nonstop action sequences are not enough to make up for a predictable, uneven storyline.

Alex L Terrible excuse of using a video game franchise. A bad movie Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review Harry W hell yea……………………………. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/29/24 Full Review ana luisa u La película es muy aburridaaa los personajes son olvidables y aburridos las batallas son pocas y terribles las actuaciones son terribles y los efectos son feos es un 2 de 10 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/22/23 Full Review Divico T So schlecht, dass es schon fast wieder gut ist. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/04/23 Full Review DanTheMan 2 I'm really starting off September right with a rewatch of this absolute travesty of a movie. So much of this movie doesn't work, but it's done in such a way that it secretly becomes a galaxy-level car crash, thanks largely in part to the legendary performance of Raúl Juliá. The man had one foot in the grave and turned in a performance that's not even so bad it's good, more like so great it's perfect. M Bison is the best part of the entire film as Juliá elevates the cliche and mundane dialogue to the level of a god, everything he says is gold. Van Damme as Guile seems perfect as does most of the other casting choices but they can't bring the same level of Shakespearean excellence to their roles that Juliá delivers in spades, it's a well-cast picture but they all pale in comparison to that of a god. Steven E. de Souza's Street Fighter certainly has its charm through all the disorientating editing, uneven story and pervasive electronic score; it offers bright colourful action, hammy entertainment and so many campy one-liners. I love it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/01/23 Full Review DizzyD 4 Amazing movie. Little Mermaid could have taken some pointers from this live action masterpiece. Sheila Johnston Independent (UK) As for Jean-Claude, it's a tough stretch for him to play a figurine from an arcade game but, why, he almost manages to be convincing. Apr 25, 2019 Full Review Jeff Shannon Seattle Times While de Souza's arrested development makes him a likely suspect to adapt a video game for movies, the result (like The Super Mario Brothers movie before it) is an empty exercise in hyper-stimulation. Or, to put it bluntly, a complete waste of time. Rated: 0.5/4 Apr 25, 2019 Full Review David Kronke Los Angeles Times De Souza's wit, which gave his earlier action scripts a tart edge, has failed him here. He pitches this entire movie at the sub-literate set that, with glassy eyes, unthinkingly pumps quarter after quarter into video games. Apr 25, 2019 Full Review James Croot Stuff.co.nz Street Fighter doesn’t exactly scream quality entertainment. However, there is just something stylishly bad about the whole farrago. Rated: 3/5 Jun 27, 2022 Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn This is probably one of the worst things I have ever seen. Even as a kid, I thought it was bad. I never want to watch this again. Rated: 1/5 May 6, 2022 Full Review Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn This was painful to watch. All of the "storylines" felt incredibly forced, the cinematography was not handled well and everyone just seemed miserable. Rated: 1/5 May 6, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews
