Hatch Harrison (Jeff Goldblum), his wife, Lindsey (Christine Lahti), and their daughter, Regina (Alicia Silverstone), are enjoying a pleasant drive when a car crash leaves wife and daughter unharmed but kills Hatch. However, an ingenious doctor, Jonas Nyebern (Alfred Molina), manages to revive Hatch after two lifeless hours. But Hatch does not come back unchanged. The movie takes big swings with a pretty clever idea for a plot, but the storytelling isn't up to snuff. Jeff Goldblum does the best he can with the material and the rest of the cast is adequate, but all too often I found myself rolling my eyes at Hideaway's corniness. Also the special effects shouldn't be so bad in a movie made 4 years after Terminator 2 and 2 years after Jurassic Park.

Awful Dean Koontz adaptation with a good cast (Jeff Goldblum, Alfred Molina), a wacky premise, and abysmal execution (the mid-90s CGI sticks out like a sore thumb).
