The story of Quasimodo, Esmeralda, and Phoebus is rich with character development, exploring themes of isolation, judgment, and inner beauty. Quasimodo’s pure heart contrasts sharply with a society that ridicules him for his appearance, while Esmeralda’s struggles highlight the prejudice faced by marginalized people. Though Frollo’s song is undeniably inappropriate for children, it reflects the dark complexity of the story rather than undermining it. Demi Moore’s performance as Esmeralda is heartfelt and commanding, making her an unforgettable heroine. Despite controversy, the film stands as a timeless Disney classic, blending emotion, morality, and artistry. See more Noah H @Noah85 Jan 11 An underrated Disney classic. Yeah, the tone may be a little all over the place, but there is STILL so much to love about this one. The animation, specifically the 2D characters paired with 3D backgrounds, still looks GORGEOUS by today’s standards. Tom Hulce is a GREAT Quasimodo, in my opinion, and Demi Moore absolutely nails her role as Esmeralda. But the true star of the show is Claude Frollo. I am just going to say it. ONE OF THE BEST DISNEY VILLAINS EVER!!! That is right, you heard me. Tony Jay KILLS this role, bringing to life a villain dripping with malice everywhere he goes. Honestly, if I had seen this movie as a kid, his villain song would have creeped the CRAP out of me. Speaking of which, the songs are CAPTIVATING. Some of them almost made me cry, especially, "Heaven’s Light", "God Help the Outcasts," and, "Out There". I strongly advise you to give this one a watch. You will not regret it.
