A campy, dumb mess, McHale's Navy is yet another failed attempt to bring a '60s television show to the big screen. When the world's second greatest terrorist sets up a base on a remote Caribbean island the US Navy recalls retired Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale and has him put together a special ops team to investigate. The cast is packed with great comedic talent, including Tom Arnold, Dean Stockwell, Debra Messing, Tim Curry, and Bruce Campbell, but the performances are universally awful. The writing is also quite terrible; as all the jokes fall flat and the plot is incredible convoluted. McHale's Navy is an out-of-control goofball comedy that doesn't know when to let up.

McHale's Navy is a sloppily made comedy film that just isn't funny. Everything about the film just fails. This is an awful comedy that fails to make you laugh. The cast here are awful and there's no time in this comedy where it's actually funny or fun. This is simply put a poorly acted comedy with an unfocused script and poor directing. The jokes fall flat, and the cast are simply not enjoyable. What this film really lacks is a good script, and is stands, it's not a well written script and it felt with too many flaws to make this film work. This is comedy in its most stupid form, and there's absolutely no humor to this film. This film is bland, and fails to make you laugh. In turn, it's an awful film with no redeeming aspects. This film ends being quite boring and uninteresting. This is a film not worth watch, and it's simply a poorly constructed film with no good comedy bits. I enjoy Tom Arnold, but he definitely missed the mark with this film. This is an awful comedy that could have been much better than what it turned out to be. This film just fails at being an effective comedy that can make you laugh. If you're looking for a funny comedy, watch something else because this film is just bland. McHale's Navy doesn't succeed at being a good comedy; in fact it's an awful film that isn't worth your time. Poorly constructed with no effective laughs, this is a laugh free comedy that has a poorly written script that just doesn't work. In fact you wonder how this film could have been made in the first place, it's horrible, and definitely not worth your time.

A couple of funny moments, but otherwise a very annoying film. Tom Arnold as the lead? Well there was a great decision. Stewart and Campbell are wasted as well as Grier is at times, at times he was the worst on the screen.
