Audience Member Quirky crime drama from the director of "Battlefield Earth" is surprisingly good. Written by Larry Bishop, who made the under appreciated retro biker film "Hell Ride," is overly talkie at times, but the story of recently released ex-con Denis Leary looking for revenge on the man who killed his father, but who ends up using his psychoanalyst skills he learned in prison to help his father's killer, Joe Mantegna, become a better person is rather funny and clever at times. The film also features a strong cast that includes Annabella Sciorra, Abe Vigoda, Traci Lords, James Tolkan, and Bishop, which helps to overcome the film's faults. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie as a whole tries to be Pulp Fiction Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member I love Denis Leary, he may be one of my idols and heroes but this movie is terrible. Way too much humor to be a film noir. Plot is awful, dialogue is decent but acting is terrible. I found myself bored and could only watch this in small increments. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed the writing, and both Denis Leary and Joe Mantegna we're outstanding. I was a little disappointed in the plot line. Abe Vigoda is one of my absolute favorites, so his ole, while small, was a treat. Abe Vigoda is one of my absolute favorites, so his ole, while small, was a treat. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Granted: plot holes and over-the-top coincidences abound in this flick, but the sleek, dark stylism and the hysterical banter make these trespasses easily forgivable. The movie as a whole tries to be Pulp Fiction, but Denis Leary's character is remarkably reminiscent of Jimmy the Saint from Things to Do in Denver.
