Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com This low-budget indie adds an honorbale panel to a growing body of films (Boyz N the Hood, Meance II Society) on young men facing pressures in the inner city, with the new angle that the clique is multi-ethnic rather than black. Audience Member This is a underground movie of sorts, hard to find. Three boys in Boston MA. in the 90's, I own it n dvd and as of someone from the area it is great to watch and look back at the city and how stuff changed and what used to be. A coming of age movie about three boys that are just trying to survive the hards street of Boston MA. in the 90's if you can get a hold of it I say see it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Really good coming of age move Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This 1997 movie was straight trash! First of all, the trio friends was fucked up! An African, Puarto Rican and a Vienmese. All three of them are 14 years old that decided to be some PG Boston thugs beause they wanted to make a name for themselves by living a life of crime! They decided to take on armed drug dealing gangs with no guns, they sold drugs but they was sleeping in abandon buildings!, the African American kid did not care about his basketball dream and his sick mother. Then he wanted to kill himself because of paranoia! You did not see no cops or no arrest! The director did a horrible job! The actors sucked! This movie is not worth having in your home! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Squeeze , in a similar style to 'Boyz n the Hood' & 'Menace to Society' is an independant American gangster drama from Robert Patton-Spruill(also directs the more succesful Body Count 1998) telling the story of 3 14/15 year old teenage boys , an African American,Puerto Rican & Vietnamese trying to establish their own gang, turf & drug slinging business with the apparernt gangland enemies, poverty stricken neighbourhood & the absent parents/worried kin scenario obviously appearing in most films of this genre. It does have much the same idea as other teen or young adult gangster type movies as i mentioned before but to me this one delves more into the main characters backgrounds & has some Spike Lee style moments(imo) in it for example the rival gang driving slowly through the young pretenders patch in a sort of non aggresive manor singing 'Who's afraid of the big bad wolf' & the (ex or trying to be)female gangster in the youth rehab centre pulling a gun on another similarly rehabilitating youth only to be presented with the same scenario with the gun pointed at her face from 1 of the rehab centres volunteers in an apparent scare tactic , these are just 2 instances that i will share.......as i dont want to print too much spoilers!!! I found this movie whilst browsing youtube for some other old films i could'nt download or buy & gladly came across this film in which i surprisingly had read or heard nothing about & also where i found Michael Haneke's Bennys Video a few years ago but thats another story. Although filmed in an ethnically white State in Massachusetts after a little research i learned that almost 32% of where Robert Patton-Spruill was born & brought up in Roxbury ,MA was African American , 18% Latino & 2.4% Asian American with 44.6% White & this is the highest non-white state in Massaschusetts. I researched this info from details of the ethnicity of the 3 main characters & maybe irrelevant or not depending on who is reading this review , you tell me(I do like to try & understand the origins & ideas etc of the Writers/Directors of most of movies i see)!?!? So highly recommended at around 7 or 7.5/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
