The poor reviews of this film are hard to fathom. It's of it's time sure, but it's still decent entertainment. Great cast and sets, I've seen many, many worse of this genre and I'm not a fan of sci-Fi. There's no way this is worse than ‘hitman' or any Schwarzenegger film for example. I think the lead does a great job playing a mentally broken soldier/robot. So, my advice would be, if you're looking for a film you don't have to think about, like sci-fi , because sometimes we just want something frivolous and not cerebral, not to listen to the stuffed shirt responses here and give it a go.

One of the best sci fi Action Films in the last 30 years. It is a movie that plays it straight but send a powerful message. This is a masterpiece. It does not surprise me the score is low. A true cult classic, an absolutely amazing movie I have gone back to watch through the decades. As I age I understand it better. Sir

This appealing formulaic action adventure (1998) displays a lot of conviction in its not-too-flashy action scenes and a little levity in the gradual socialization of Russell's character.

Soldier finally deserves a reappraisal. The Kurt Russell starrer is actually a hugely entertaining and visually arresting piece of science fiction cinema – at the centre of it is a bold performance from Russell – one in which he only speaks 104 words.

Russell is quite suitable for a Terminator-like role, where dialogue is at an absolute minimum, physical intimidation is relevant, and action sequences are numerous.
