What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Impostors might have benefited from a more consistently witty script, but writer-director Stanley Tucci acquits himself nicely as an orchestrator of screwball comedy in this uneven debut.

Anton H This rare gem of a VHS find instantly became a comedy favorite, serving as a love letter to screwball comedies of the ‘30s and ‘40s. The two leads—coincidentally, another ‘Stan and Oliver’—make a hysterical pair, bouncing off an impressive ensemble of character actors and outrageously funny situations. If you happen to see this title on DVD, BUY IT! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/19/24 Full Review John F One of our favorites. Tucci and Platt are wonderful. Great cast, lots of funny edits and is one of those (dare I say) zany comedies that make you laugh every time. Seeing with friends is lots of fun. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/17/23 Full Review Steve D Good cast a complete mess everywhere else. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A great combination of stupid and intelligent humor abounds throughout this farce! This is a film I recommend to anyone, especially those who has ever acted on stage. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member A little too wacky and dramatically over the top for me . None less not bad 2.7 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/22/20 Full Review Audience Member Great ensemble cast with a simple, fun plot and subtle (and not to subtle) comedy.
