Fantastic movie. Not only Leonor Varela, but the rest of the cast was perfect for the roles they played, down to the most humble. Casting agents knew what they were doing. A well earned award for art direction, the film has a very authentic feeling throughout, particularly on interiors designs, lighting and costumes. If you want more accuracy on Cleopatra story, you should turn to scholarly publications or documentaries. No Cleopatra movie has ever presented the whole story, that would take a long tv series or something. But this film moves at a good pace, never lagging. It also portrays the rivalry between Cleopatra and her sister, a key player in Cleopatra ' early struggles for power. Then there is the wonderful soundtrack by master composer Trevor Jones, a must listen by itself. Go watch it if you have not!

Leonor Varela was a poor choice for Cleopatra. She lacked strength and beauty. She was the weak link in this poorly acted version.

Another version that perpetuates the legend of Cleopatra as a drop dead gorgeous femme fatale and bugger all else.
. I hope Angelina Jolie plays her as the highly intelligent and capable ruler she was instead of the usual scheming sex kitten Hollywood and Roman historical bias usually inflicts on us.

Cleopatra fails to create any action in its premise and is boring yet it can be much worse due to the fact that it ruins one of the best of stories of ancient times and civilazations
