Audience Member Someone will always hold a vendetta Based on a true story and book by Richard Bambino HBO Pictures and Nicholas Meyer present the story of the Italian mafia and its effect on America In New Orleans at the turn of the century in 1890 many Italian immigrants arrive in the United States But they are treated with such contempt, hostility, even violence David Henessey is also targeted to be killed when the 1891 lynchings took place claiming the lives of 11 Italians A police chief was murdered and many US citizens blamed them for the crime It's an alright viewing but they do nail down the gritty, brutal social climate of the country at the time Immigrants have always had a shaky history with citizens already born in the United States so tensions are high as well as the prejudice against one another Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/03/24 Full Review Audience Member Was on demand, vatti and I clicked it and were surprised as to what kind of movie it actually turned out to be. Filmed as if it's an older flick, with an interesting cast of characters (known and unknown) no less. This film completely highlights a dark part of history that many do not know about (till now anyways). Well told although the story itself is shameful to say the least. Review TBC. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member New Orleans, 1890: The rising tide of immigrants from Italy, brought in to do manual labor cheaper then whites or blacks, has caused many powerful men concern when the immigrants begin to prosper. Orchestrating the murder of the New Orleans police chief David Hennessey, these men have 19 Italians arressted. 9 are put on trial. They are found innocent...but the politicians and business owners won't stand for that and these 9 innocent men become the victims of the largest lynching in American history. Good movie with some good acting from Clancy Brown, Christopher Walken and Bruce Davison. Contains many eerie similarities to the American debate over illeagal immigration from Mexico. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Too many characters. Walken is barely in it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member An ok drama mob film based on a true story. My fav part was that handsome extra in the background of a few scenes(Me). Anyway if you like average mob flicks starring Christopher Walken and me check it out. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Very touching, Walken is great Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
