The Patriot can be entertaining to watch, but it relies too much on formula and melodrama.

Nell Minow Common Sense Media Many graphic battle scenes, not for all teens. Rated: 4/5 Dec 28, 2010 Full Review Philip Strick Sight & Sound The main irony, of course, lies in the film's title, which suggests that the absurdly flag-waving activist should be taken at face value despite the ample evidence that defending his country is the last thing on his mind. Dec 2, 2002 Full Review Mick LaSalle San Francisco Chronicle Emmerich's battle scenes may look authentic to anyone who has ever stared hard at a history book, but in every other way the film is long, empty and bogus. Rated: 2/4 Jun 18, 2002 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins The climax is a substantial spectacle, saving the best (or worst) of the bloodletting and destruction for last. Rated: 6/10 Jul 21, 2024 Full Review Rob Gonsalves Rob's Movie Vault The movie is rabble-rousing at its hypocritical worst. Rated: D Sep 2, 2022 Full Review Tony Black Cultural Conversation The Patriot is heavily concerned in re-writing and re-conceptualising America's bloody, revolutionary history. Justin W It's fascinating how people went to war in the old days, just standing still in formation & wishing for the best? LOL. Nonetheless, it's an awesome war masterpiece, perfect for a recruitment campaign. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/02/24 Full Review Amoni R ASWOME MOVIE! I watched it in Social Studies class (with parent permission of course) it had me on the edge of my seat, LITERALLY! It's so good! Action packed, sad but also funny, very entertaining. Made me hate British people tho(nah just kidding) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/27/24 Full Review Xavier M The dialogue was very unatural. seemed like rated R disney. It has good morals so I really wish it was good. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/24/24 Full Review Robert B Excellent movie, inspiring and well directed with top acting throughout. Makes you want to be proud of your country. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/25/24 Full Review Viola R this film had me on the edge every minute. I am amazed Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/24/24 Full Review Morbeus f You know they say that the only two ways to change our lives is by Revolution or the exercise of our right to vote in the Democratic system. This movie is a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives to achieve that goal and evolve into a republic to the Constitution. America's struggle through revolution to evolve into a Democratic society is a memorable feat marked by incredible bravery at a time when colonialism was still an accepted practice. This was a great film and probably one of Mel Gibson's best roles despite the critics overall view of it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews
