The title of this film refers to the cyclic schedule of the Canadian fishermen who are its subject. For 10 days they trawl the frigid waters of the Grand Banks, after which they spend two days with their families before heading out again. Having recently returned to work after a long strike, the crews are eager to fish, but must battle boredom and the weather to earn their living. And, though they cherish the brief time with their wives and children, they must also rest between expeditions.
