Anton Bitel Projected Figures Crocodile remains a shocking depiction of day-to-day struggles in a dog-eat-dog world. It also comes with one of those hauntingly beautiful endings for which Kim has since become rightly famous. Andy B Someone recently asked me why I like slasher movies. My answer boiled down the enjoyment of watching a group of irritating "teenagers" getting killed in a variety of unusual ways. And that, is what you get in Crocodile - except they all die the same way. My hopes were lifted when I saw that this was directed by the iconic Tobe Hooper. But it would seem that he, like Orson Welles, is living his career in reverse and having started off with his best pieces, has slowly descended into drivel. For drivel this is. The characters are everything you want in a slasher movie: irritating, self-involved, arrogant. There is even an annoying dog which you just know will survive. There is the stereotypical sheriff, the obligatory telling of a local legend and some local "colour" that involves a lot of atrocious accents and much spitting. Sometimes these films are salvaged by good special effects. Not so here. The film also suffers from bad writing. For instance, it is several times repeated that the crocodile is on a rampage due to her eggs being threatened/ smashed. Yet when 5 of the characters are stood in her nest and one breaks an egg, the crocodile merely watches from the reeds rather than "rampaging" through them. Which would, if nothing else, have shortened this film. I'm not even going to mention the bit where it flies. Tobe, you can do better. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member If you are looking for the most stupid movie to watch, this is it! Everything about this movie is rotten. From acting to directing to scripting. All is garbage! Don't wasting your time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Tobe Hooper, for some reason, decided to take a giant shit on one of my favorite horror genres, the killer crocodile genre, by releasing this cheap disasterpiece. Bitchy characters, campy acting and low quality special effects, there's a reason why this film went directly to DVD. Just look at the cover itself, it's hand draw, so that really says something about the film itself. Oh yeah, and the women of the cover has nothing to do with the film itself. It's campy fun in a way, but still a time waster. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Douchbags, cliches, low budget, horror, lake, an animal, trying to be suspenseful, fire scenes, boyfriend/girlfriend problems, resolution, blah blah blah... BORING. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member It has the characters of a slasher flick, but with a giant crocodile for the killer. The practical effects are fun, but the computer animation ruins the effect. As a creature feature, it's fun enough to watch, but otherwise it won't offer up enough for wholesome entertainment.
