Audience Member This film is well executed (top-notch talent for both acting and directing). What moved me was the excellent portrayal of Saul, showing his weaknesses in a rather sympathetic manner, and also the incredible dynamics and triangle of mixed emotions between Saul, Jonathan and David. This movie I purchased, passed on, and am actually re-purchasing because it has stayed with me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member I didn't think this film was as good as some of the other movies in The Bible Collection, made for TV, I was surprised at some of the stuff that was put in this film. Some things that were highlighted I question and some things that were passed over very fast. also makes me wonder as to the true purpose of this movie, as to weather the director was trying to tell the viewers his own translation of the biblical story. Surprised to see Leonard Nimoy in this movie and I did enjoy the role he played. Still I give it 3 stars. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member A fantastic adaptation of one of the OT's most complex heroes. David might be the most identifiable of the great Biblical personas, and the best example of what Christ meant when He said, "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." Despite that we may fail Him, the story of David is one of God's patience, love, and forgiveness when we repent of our sin--and thus God would still bless us and have us serve Him in our faith. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member I REALLY ENJOYED THIS MOVIE! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member David is a long movie that can feel slow at times (especially during Saul's reign). Still, it's quite effective in retelling the history (with liberties, simplifications, and additions) and has a truly inspirational ending. The story itself has a lot to teach, and this is hard for a single movie. Given that problem, the makers do an adequate job. 5.5/10 (rounded to 3/5).
