Audience Member One of the most powerful films about the treatment of children, 'Abandoned' is an extraordinarily told sombre tale about hope and survival. Impeccable photography beautifully captures the icy cold tone of the film with outstanding performances from all concerned (Tamás Mészáros as protagonist Soproni Áron and Attila Zsilák as the religious Máté are stand-outs) bringing to life a superb screenplay. It's an almost flawless picture, carefully crafted by the exceptionally talented Árpád Sopsits. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Dark & gloomy Hungarian film that goes nowhere but deeper into the darkness of abused children in an orphanage. The child actors are very good, and the film was well done...but it left me feeling unsatisfied. I didn't dislike it, but I wish it went another direction, I guess. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member this is the first foregin film i have ever seen and i must say im very impressed. this film about a boy who is dropped off at an orphanage by his father who doesnt want him anymore is very well put together. well worth watching at least once, if not twice. a very inspiring film.
