Tragically mysterious deaths have occurred, and English schoolgirl Liz Dunn (Thora Birch) knows what happened, so psychiatrist Philippa Horwood (Embeth Davidtz) is brought in to investigate. Liz's story: Her friend Martyn (Daniel Brocklebank) sealed her, her pal Frances (Keira Knightley) and handsome classmate Mike (Desmond Harrington) in a bomb shelter and left them to die. Only that might not be true, as Martyn claims Liz masterminded the plan that brought about such disturbing consequences.

Blu B I give the ending to this some credit. It's got some balls going dark like that and forgoing any cliche of a happy ending. It wins some points for that and kind of redeems itself in its draggy parts in the second half. The acting is just alright across the board. None of the characters have that much depth and sort of blend in especially the guys. Knightley is the only who kind of has some prescence but isn't given much to work with to stand out. The music was alright but a bit boring. The cinematography and editing aren't that good and are the weakest points. First off the camerawork is basic, the lighting is very drab especially in the hole, and the hole itself isn't that memorable a locale. Only really ebcause 80% of the film takes place there do I remember it if that makes any sense. It's very boring, dark, and lifeless and not moody or atmospheric at all. Second, the out of order story telling isn't needed ehre. This should've just played it straight because what ends up happening is instead of fake outs or tricking us it ends up feeling like were seeing the same scene and location with all the same problems over and over again and it just starts to wear you down a bit by the 3rd or 4th time you see the same thing but this time it's the REAL version. Granted the runtime would be cut in over in half but still it would work better. The ending though is still a bit of a suprise and kind of makes up for how draggy it gets and is ok pacing wise. If you do sit through this just bear with it towards the end. It'll have a payoff. This thriller/teen drama has a Lifetime movie feel to it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/13/24 Full Review Justin T The nature of this story changes more times than I could ever remember. It was not very scary and it wasn't very thrilling. The idea was pretty good but the characters are all so hateable that it becomes a challenge to watch at times. The horrificness of the characters is what makes it so interesting. It is a funny film that I enjoy watching but don't enjoy the memory. Not your typical horror - entertaining occasionally - it'll pass your time and be forgotten. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/06/24 Full Review colin m Disturbing tale that kept me involved until the end. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Knightly made her debut in this low budget English thriller as Frankie but she was too over the top as well was her character and the other cast which got in the way. They laid on the peaches and plums queens English but the first third of this movie really didn't work. Critics made clear the film fell apart when the group came out of the bunker but actually this wasn't correct. The film improved and became more interesting with a twist. The ending was a let down slowly things unravelled to which was already predictable. The cast made a bit more effort to step up the performance in the last half an hour. Knightly meanwhile just merely cast to look pretty and flirt with two lads who looked creepy and odd throughout. There was supposed to be this eerie chilling feel to the movie but this didn't come off. Just a bit of a strange cheap teenage sort of film with upper class actors with no skills just with parents with acting backgrounds. Another overall weak display but because of the glimpses of skin we got to see from knightly this propelled her to instant future roles. Nicely does it lads. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Pandemic is making any movie good right now. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Harrington was really good. The story isn’t that good and there’s plot holes but the acting made it worth the watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/07/18 Full Review Read all reviews
